It was a tough matchup for the boys of the Turlock High tennis team as they were swept by the first ranked Davis High, 9-0, at Monday's Section playoffs.

“We have played them before. We were familiar with them,” Turlock’s head coach Juan Alaniz said. “They have a program, and we have a team. A program like theirs keeps on reloading after every year with many kids who are devoted to tennis year around.”

After defeating West High from Tracy, 5-4, the previous week the Bulldogs looked to come out on top, but Davis was just too much as Turlock was swept in straight sets.

For the ‘Dogs singles, Jordon Bean fell in straight sets, 0-6, and 0-6 then second singles was Aldiar Lima who also fell in straight sets, 0-6 and 0-6. In the third singles, Alex Lima put up a fight but fell, 1-6 and 2-6.

Turlock High’s second doubles came the closest to winning as Daniel Saldana and Alan Trelles fell 3-6 and 2-6 to Davis.

“If we played these guys every day we could get better,” Alaniz said about Davis. “[We] knew what we were going up against.

“The good of playing tough competition is that it is going to make our guys better for sure. Our young kids played their hearts out and did the best they could."
