Turlock High second baseman Jaron Rocha turned in a solid all-around performance at last week’s Central Coast Classic at Paso Robles High School.
The Bulldogs played games against Pleasant Valley (Chico), Westlake (Westlake Village), Amador Valley (Pleasanton) and the host Bearcats.
At the plate, Rocha was 3-for-8 with a home run, a double, a stolen base, and four RBIs. On the mound, he was equally impressive, picking up the win in the Bulldogs’ fourth and final game of the classic — a 3-2 victory over Amador Valley. Rocha pitched six innings and allowed just one hit while striking out eight.
“My fastball and my off-speed, they couldn’t read it out of my hand, and I was throwing it for a strike, getting ahead in the count,” said Rocha. “This sets us up better for the second half of the season because we saw guys we’re not used to seeing. It’s just good experience seeing teams we don’t usually face, traveling, in different weather; a new routine.”
