Pitman volleyball off to 2-0 start

 

The Pride varsity volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start for the year after winning back-to-back road games to begin the regular season after topping Clovis East on Tuesday, 3-2, followed by a 3-1 victory over Enochs on Thursday.

 

In Thursday's game, Yisel Perez finished with 16 kills. Marlowe Embry tallied six digs and Kiyanna Torres finished with 32 assists.

 

Pitman dropped only their first set by seven points then followed by winning the next three sets, ending with a two-point victory in the fourth set.

 

Pitman's next game will be their home opener against East Union at 4 p.m.

 

 

Bulldog tennis off to a 1-0 start after topping El Capitan

 

Turlock varsity tennis is off to a 1-0 start in the Central California Conference with a 7-2 victory over El Capitan on Thursday.


Turlock picked up wins in five of six singles matches with only their No. 1 singles player picking up a loss along with the No. 2 doubles team.

 

Other than that, the Bulldogs managed to handle El Capitan with ease, after all but two matches in the singles ended in straight sets.

 

The top two doubles matches ended in tiebreakers.

 

The next match for Turlock will be at home against Atwater at 3 p.m. Thursday.

 

 

Pride tennis falls to Falcons of Atwater in season opener

 

The Pitman Pride varsity girls’ tennis team are off to an 0-1 start in league after dropping their first match to Atwater at home on Thursday.

 

Their home opener didn't fare well for the Pride who won just two of six singles matches for the day.

 

Only the No. 4 and No. 5 singles player for Pitman notched two of the team’s three victories.

 

Amrit Hayer and Chuc Luu picked up wins and the No. 2 doubles team in Catie Smith and Desiree Castorena notched the only victory for the Pride after capturing a straight sets victory.

 

Pitman's next match will be at home against Golden Valley at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
