The Colorado Rockies announced Tuesday afternoon that Cole Carrigg, a 2020 graduate of Turlock High School, has been promoted from Triple-A and will make his MLB debut at Coors Field today against the Chicago Cubs.
First pitch Tuesday between the Rockies and Cubs from Coors Field in Denver is slated for 5:40 p.m. PST. Per the team, Carrigg will start in center field and bat seventh on Tuesday.
Once Carrigg takes the diamond, he will be the ninth alumnus of Turlock High to play in Major League Baseball, and the first to make his debut since Nick Avila in 2024 with the San Francisco Giants.
Carrigg, 24, is currently ranked as Colorado’s No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Yesterday, he was named the Albuquerque Isotopes’ Player of the Month for May after batting .351 with a 1.031 OPS and having stolen 11 bases.
Since beginning the 2026 season with Triple-A Albuquerque, Carrigg has slashed .338/.414/.529/.943 with 76 hits including six home runs, five triple and 15 doubles, 27 RBI and 30 stolen bases. The speedster has split time between the outfield and shortstop this year.
The Rockies selected Carrigg with the 65th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft after he played three seasons at San Diego State University. He was the 27th player from Turlock High to be drafted.
