Turlock now has a fastpitch softball program for local girls.

Founded last summer, the Turlock Stingrays Youth Softball Club is a fast-growing program that allows the girls of Turlock a team to hone and improve their softball skills.

The organization began with one team, for girls aged 15 and 16.

This summer, the organization grew to two teams, adding the level for girls aged 13 and 14.  For the fall, the Stingrays are striving to offer four complete levels.

Turlock girls aged 10 to 18 now have the ability to practice and grow within a program that will benefit the community.

On Sunday, the Stingrays will hold open tryouts for their fall ball teams. These tryouts will be held at the varsity softball field at Turlock High.  The age 10 to 12 tryouts are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., ages 13 to 14 from noon to 2 p.m. and ages 15 to 18 will be combined from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
