The Turlock FC U-18 girls soccer team — the Cougars 93 — earned a championship last weekend at the four-day Orange Bowl Tournament in Tracy.

The team won all four of its games, including winning the title game 1-0 over the West Valley Wildcats of San Jose.

The Turlock FC held its four opponents scoreless, achieving four shutouts while scoring 11 goals.

Leading the team offensively were Sara Pimentel, Hannah Verschelden, Marisa Emmons, Ellen Lee, Alyssa Dahl and Karina Maldonado.

The defense was led by Kara McKee, Kaitlyn Ireland, Anicia Salazar, Vanessa Serrato, Beth Cardenas and Emily Thompson, along with goalkeepers Katie Cardenas, Caitlin Adams and Devyn Prather.

The team — which participates in the Norcal Premier League and plans to play a number of upcoming tournaments this season — had only had four practice sessions together after being apart for a couple of years.

The players have recently finished playing for Turlock, Pitman, Escalon, Modesto, Hughson and Central Catholic High school teams.
