Child endangerment charges for reckless driver

A man caught speeding and weaving down a busy Turlock street was arrested for child endangerment after officers found eight children in his truck.Just before midnight on Sunday Doroteo Gonzales, 40, was spotted by officers driving a Chevy pickup in the area of East Avenue and Center Street. According to the police report Gonzales was driving at a high rate of speed and was skidding around, making the vehicle slide sideways erratically.Once the vehicle was stopped, Gonzales was said to be uncooperative with the officers and was taken into custody. In the bed of the pickup were three children and five more were in the vehicle. All of the children were unrestrained during his reckless driving. They ranged in age from 2 years to 14 years.Gonzales was charged with child endangerment, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
