The Turlock Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy starting February of 2010, designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the department and the criminal justice system.
The program consists of a series of 11 classes and discussions held once a week, on Thursday evenings typically from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.
The classes will provide an in-depth view into various areas and specialized units of law enforcement.
Graduates will receive a certificate of completion and will be given the opportunity to apply to join the Turlock Volunteers in Police Service.
There is limited space in the Citizens Academy and registration is required. E-mail or call Crime Prevention Officer Taryn Weatherford at 656-3136 for information about the next class.
