At least one suspect in a rash of mail thefts plaguing Turlock has been taken into custody.
The Turlock Police Department arrested 19-year-old Christopher Henderson on Dec. 18 on suspicion of mail theft, but the police don't want residents to believe the problem is solved, as additional reports of mail theft came in on Monday.
Officers found Henderson in the 1300 block of Palm Street around 8:30 a.m. Dec. 18 after a resident reported seeing a man looking into mailboxes. When officers approached Henderson he attempted to conceal some items, which turned out to be stolen mail from various addresses in Turlock.
Henderson was arrested for possession of stolen property.
The police department has reported numerous mail thefts occurring in town as more packages and cards arrive at people’s doorsteps and mailboxes.
