Motorcyclist dies in collision
emergency

A Modesto man was killed Saturday afternoon in a rural area between Ballico and Snelling when his motorcycle collided with a semi truck.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending next of kin notification. He was 42 and from Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. Saturday on Turlock Road, near Looney Road.

The man was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson eastbound on Turlock Road at an estimated speed of 55 to 60 miles per hour.

For an unknown reason the motorcyclist allowed his cycle to veer into the westbound lane, where it struck a 2012 Volvo semi truck head-on.

The driver of the semi, Adam Berryhill, 38, of Hilmar was unable to avoid the collision.

The Modesto man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Berryhill was not injured in the crash.

Berryhill was not under the influence at the time of the collision. It’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor for the motorcyclist. The investigation is ongoing.
