One killed, four injured in Keyes crash
emergency

A single vehicle collision near Keyes killed one man and injured four others Wednesday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deceased was identified as Qimonni Myers, 20, of Modesto.

Myers was driving a 2003 Honda southbound on Highway 99 with four passengers when the vehicle crashed. The collision happened just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the CHP, Myers was driving at an estimated 80 miles per hour when he lost control of the car, causing it to veer onto the left shoulder where it collided with a concrete pillar around the Faith Home Road.

The force of the impact sheered the Honda into two pieces at the front axle.

All five of the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to the CHP.

Myers was taken by air ambulance to San Joaquin General Hospital in Stockton, where he died from his injuries.

The front passenger, Layshaun Johnson, 20, of Newman was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.

The three rear passengers were not wearing seat belts and sustained a variety of injuries including broken bones and internal damage.

Andreuss Brown, 19, of Salida was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.

Zoey Hughes, 15, of Modesto sustained minor injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center.

Booker Beck, 19, of Modesto was taken to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
