Shooting in Turlock injures pregnant woman

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a shooting that critically injured a pregnant woman early Tuesday.

The shooting was initially reported as an aggravated assault around 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Twentieth Century Boulevard.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found the woman inside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. The injury was described as life-threatening, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital. She has been identified, but the police department is not releasing her name at this time. She was described as an adult Hispanic woman.

The suspect or suspects had fled prior to officers arriving at the scene.

Detectives are actively investigating this case and are working on leads discovered in their preliminary investigation.
