Theft leads to drug charges

A man spotted stealing merchandise from a Turlock sports store was arrested on drug and theft charges Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, Turlock Police officers responded to Bilson’s Sport Shop at 201 Lander Ave. after receiving a report of a man stealing a bag from the store.

Officers responded and searched the area. They spotted a man that matched the description of the thief riding a bicycle in the area. Using their lights and sirens, the officers ordered the man to stop, but he refused, leading to a short pursuit.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Jonathan Seeger, 25. According to the police report Seeger was found in possession of stolen merchandise from the store, heroin and methamphetamine.

Seeger was arrested for theft, resisting arrest and drug possession.
