A woman was hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries after her car collided with a train Wednesday morning in Turlock.

The woman’s injuries, while serious, were not considered life-threatening, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

The collision was reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Marshall Street and Golden State Boulevard.

The woman was turning onto Marshall Street from Golden State Boulevard, when for an unknown reason she lost control of the car and hit a business near the intersection, Rodrigues said.

The force of the impact sent the vehicle back onto the road where the front collided with the side of the oncoming freight train.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing and at this point it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor.
