Two Turlock men and a Modesto woman are wanted by Ceres Police in connection with their alleged role in a commercial burglary in Modesto.

The three suspects were traveling in a tan-colored 2002 Buick Century when it was pulled over at 1:13 a.m. on June 20 by Ceres patrol officer Brian Peterson for mechanical violation atop the Whitmore Avenue/Highway 99 Overpass in Ceres. Peterson learned that Shawn Storment, 27, and Matthews Roberts, 41, both of Turlock, were on parole for prior burglary convictions.

Peterson noticed that a Dell laptop computer was inside the car but at the time was unable to determine if it had been stolen despite none of the occupants claiming it as their own. The men, as well as occupant Krista Kamps, 38, of Modesto, were released since the officer had no probable cause for their arrest at the time.

Ceres Police Detective Greg Yotsuya later searched information on the computer and learned that it belonged to a male employee of Bright Homes at 1620 N. Carpenter Rd. in Modesto, which had been burglarized along with neighboring offices just 23 minutes before the Ceres traffic stop. The computer had been taken from a desk inside the office.

“We are looking for these folks for burglary charges and for possession of stolen property,” said Lt. Brent Smith of the Ceres Police Department.

Anyone with information that would help lead police to the suspects should call Ceres police detectives at 538-5727.
