A 78-year-old woman died Wednesday night from injuries she sustained after being struck by a vehicle on East Avenue in Turlock.

The woman was identified as Khamirya Hana.

The Turlock Police Department received calls around 6 p.m. Wednesday of a pedestrian down in the roadway in the 1200 block of East Avenue who had just been struck by a vehicle.

Bystanders began life saving measures until police officers and medical aid arrived and took over. Unfortunately, the injuries were too severe and Hana died at the scene, according to the police department.

Hana was crossing East Avenue when she was struck by the vehicle that was traveling eastbound. It’s unknown if Hana was in a crosswalk at the time.

The driver remained on scene and is being cooperative with this investigation. The police department did not release any information about the driver.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident.
