Denair Academic Avenues charter school students were treated to an inspirational morning assembly on Friday as local Olympian Ali Cox spoke about her experience rowing in the 2004 Summer Olympics. A silver medalist in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, and a gold medal world champion among other accomplishments, Cox stressed the four key elements to her success to the students: setting goals, working hard, being a good teammate, as well as being focused and prepared. Cox chose four excited students to wear her memorabilia from the significant rowing years of her career, from her time at the University of San Diego to representing the USA internationally, and the students proudly donned her medals.
