NEW COMMISSIONER SEATED
Barbara Jensen PARC
Barbara Jensen takes the oath of office to serve as Turlock's newest Parks, Arts and Recreation Commissioner (ANGELINA MARTIN/The Journal).

Turlock resident Barbara Jensen was sworn in as the newest member of the Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission during their meeting on Wednesday night. Jensen, a retired educator, said she was inspired to apply for the Commission after seeing an advertisement in the Journal and thought it would be a great way to give back to her community.

“When I was chosen and then appointed, I was somewhat surprised. Being selected was an extremely humbling experience and a tremendous honor. I feel like an extreme neophyte on the committee and understand that I have a great deal to learn, and I am anxious to learn” Jensen said. “I feel grateful that there are experienced members on the committee as well as Turlock City staff members who are gracious and willing to guide me.”
