A fire that originated in an attic left a Turlock home in ruins.

The fire was reported by a neighbor who noticed smoke and flames coming from the home at 2020 Jackson Court around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The flames grew in force as Turlock fire fighters ventilated the attic. At one point the flames were threatening a neighbor’s home, but fire fighters were able to keep it from spreading, said Battalion Chief Gary Lunsford.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but crews did trace its origin to the attic.

The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage and another $20,000 for the contents, according to the Turlock Fire Department.

The owner was out of state at the time and no injuries were reported.
