The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency’s Keep Baby Safe program will host a free child safety seat check from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Learning Institute at 917 Oakdale Rd., in Modesto.

The program will have trained car seat technicians on site to check that children are seating in the appropriate safety seats for their height, weight and age.

The technicians also will give lessons on how to properly install and use child safety seats, which can greatly reduce the risk of injuries in a collision.

The event is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Health Services Agency has plans on using the grant to expand the safety seat checkup to other Stanislaus County communities.

Anyone unable to attend the event can get car seat safety information by calling 558-7400.
