Structure charred in industrial area of Turlock

The Turlock Fire Department is looking into what ignited a fire inside a commercial structure in an industrial area of town.

The fire was reported at 11;49 p.m. Thursday at a commercial structure in the 3000 block of Commerce Way, off S. Tegner Road. The area is largely made up of offices, warehouses, and storage facilities.

First arriving crews found a single-story commercial building with heavy smoke coming from the structure. Crews went to work cutting and prying their way into the metal building to make entry, locate, and extinguish the fire.

Once inside the fire crews made a quick attack on the flames and kept it from spreading to the adjacent building. The contents inside sustained minimal damage, according to the fire department.

Turlock Fire responded to the incident with three engines, Squad 32, a battalion chief, the fire chief, and the fire marshal for investigation. Ceres Fire responded with one engine and a battalion chief however, they were canceled prior to arrival. Turlock Rural Fire provided coverage throughout the city during the incident.
