Fay Azevedo, 85 of Hilmar passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Turlock, CA.
Fay was born in Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana. She met her husband Arthur during World War II. Fay enjoyed playing musical instruments, but her real love was children, everyone’s children, she worked at Hilmar High School for over 30 years; where she ran the student store feeding over 300 students and faculty each day. She enjoyed many hobbies over the years, gardening, music, casinos, but mostly cooking, whether it was for one or one hundred, she would put together meals in a moment’s notice. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Turlock, P.F.S.A. Council 26 of Stevinson, Turlock, Hilmar, Stars of Merced County and Stanislaus County and a member of V.F.W. Ladies Aux of Gustine. Fay was survived by eight sons and one daughter, Gary Azevedo of Turlock, Larry Azevedo and wife Elizabeth of Merced, Don Azevedo and wife Terry of Thayne, Wyoming, Cliff Azevedo and wife Janet of Hilmar, Les Azevedo and wife Rendy of Hilmar, George Azevedo and wife Jonese of Desert Hot Spring, Ca, Albert Azevedo and wife Eva of Turlock and John Azevedo and wife Roxanne of Hilmar, Rosemary Martins and husband John of Porterville, CA, Brother David Lee Walker of Memphis, Tennessee, Sister- Genevive Brewster of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 24-Grandchildren and 16-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Azevedo on March 22, 1992, Sisters- Pearl, Lovina, Launena, Domatile (Boots) and Mary Lou,  Brothers- Harold, Mitchell, Norman, and George. Visitation- 1PM-4PM, Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St, Turlock, CA Rosary-7PM, Sunday , August 25, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave, Hilmar, CA. Mass-10AM, Monday, August 26, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave, Hilmar, CA. A private burial will follow at Hilmar North Cemetery. The family asks that everyone who wishes, please join them for a celebration of life at Eugene Mc Sweeney Football Stadium in Hilmar on Sunday evening September 15, 2013.  A Fay Azevedo student store dinner will be served to all. A memorial scholarship has been set up in lieu of flowers and donations can be made at the celebration of Life. Remembrance can be made to Fay Azevedo Memorial Scholarship Fund at F&M Bank.
