Stanislaus runner honored for academics

Cal State Stanislaus junior Dawson Vorderbruegge was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District track and field/cross country team last week. He is among 10 student-athletes in NCAA Divsion II and III to be named to the College Division District VIII team.
Vorderbruegge, from Honolulu, posted a 3.95 GPA as an English major. He is only one of two from the California Collegiate Athletic Association, with Cal Poly Pomona's Matthew Prentice being the other.
Vorderbruegge narrowly missed the track and field national championships in the 1500-meter run with a season-best time of 3:51.59. He was a redshirt during the cross country season.
