Turlock and Pitman high schools combined for nine individual and five relay titles at the Central California Athletic League swimming and diving championships at Thomas Downey High School.
Overall, Turlock earned the boys and girls team titles. On the girls' side, the Bulldogs amassed 487 points, ahead of Enochs (405), Pitman (356.5), Gregori (198), Downey (197), and Modesto (53). For the boys, the Bulldogs totaled 503 points, well ahead of Pitman (379), Enochs (300),
Gregori (223), Downey (210), and Modesto (124).
Individually, Turlock senior Laylee Amarant was a double-winner, taking firsts in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.37 seconds; and the 100 freestyle, with a clocking of 55.90. Amarant’s time equaled the CCAL record set by Turlock’s Sierra Yandell in 2019.
Turlock and Pitman dominated the 200 individual medley, with Turlock sophomore Kallie Parker taking first with a time of 2:33.97. Pitman junior Heidi Lancaster (2:36.26) taking second; Turlock junior Addison Stempson (2:39.03) was third; Turlock sophomore Joelle Maggard (2:39.12) was fourth; Turlock sophomore Savanna Haase (2:39.73) was fifth; and Pitman sophomore Kaydence Braley (2:40.42) was sixth.
The Pride’s Averyt Ahlem won the 100 butterfly (1:09.20), while teammate Heidi Lancaster triumphed in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.71).
Pitman won the 200 IM relay (2:05.91), while the Bulldogs took the 200 (1:51.30) and 400 (4:04.50) freestyle relay.
For the boys, Turlock junior Harris Cooper was a double-winner, taking the 50 free (23.05) and 100 free (51.05). Turlock sophomore Caleb Tucker won the 100 backstroke (1:01.88), while Turlock sophomore Jacob Packwood (2:10.41) won the 200 IM, ahead of Pitman freshman Isaac Norenberg 2:18.10.
The Bulldogs won two relays ahead of Pitman, talking the 200 free in 1:35.37 (1.38 seconds faster than the Pride’s quartet), and the 400 free relay in 3:30.71 (11.29 seconds ahead of the Pitman squad).
