Local students really shined at the 40th Annual Stanislaus County Occupational Olympics and Career Exposition was held Thursday at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, with Turlock High taking the Large School Overall Award and Hughson High taking the Small School Overall Award.

 Over 1,000 students from Stanislaus County high schools participated in 16 competitive events. An additional 40 business/industry representatives exhibited and spoke to students during the Career Expo.

During the competition, school site staff, representatives from local business and industry judged students in 16 competitive events, including Agricultural Engineering/Construction, Agricultural Technology, Animal Husbandry, Basic Life Support CPR/1st Aid, Child Development, Criminal Justice, Culinary, Firefighter Candidate, Floriculture, Job Seeking Skills, Medical Occupations, Pitsco Drag Racing, Robotics, Small Engine, Video Game Expo, and Welding.

First place winners included: Caleb Voight, Ag Engineering/Building Trades, Turlock High; Haiden Lopes, Ag Equipment Technology, Turlock High; Maria Valencia and Aliah Bertalotta, Basic Life Support, Turlock High; Chloe Chapman, Job Seeking Skills, Turlock High; Emily Calles Rolon, Medical Occupations, Turlock High; Cesar Hernandez Ruiz, Pitsco Drag Racing Light Weight Class, Turlock High; and Payton Williams, Salad Preparation and Display, Pitman High.
