Iqbinder Randhawa danced with residents during Main West Post Acute Care’s Cultural Day. What began as a way for Main West’s Indian employees to share their heritage with residents has grown to encompass all of the cultures found at the convalescent home, including Mexican, Spanish, Assyrian, Portuguese and many others.

“It lets our residents see other cultures, and it’s exciting for them,” said Activities Director Amritpal Kaur, who added that events like Cultural Day help many of the residents stay active both physically and mentally. “We try to do fun things here for them to help them emotionally.”

Cultural Day was celebrated through different food dishes and walls decorated to represent the nursing home’s various cultures, and residents were also treated to Indian dancing by a group of employees.
