Despite the lower than normal water levels caused by California’s ongoing drought, the recreation areas at Don Pedro Reservoir will be fully operational for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.

According to the Don Pedro Recreation Agency, all boat ramps and marina facilities will be open and operational through the holiday weekend, in addition to all three campgrounds including Blue Oaks, Fleming Meadows and Moccasin Point.

While all campsites at Fleming Meadows campground are reserved for the Memorial weekend, there are still some campsites available at Moccasin Point and many campsites available at Blue Oaks.

Despite being fully operation for Memorial Day Weekend, the Don Pedro Recreation Agency has made changes to many of the facilities and campgrounds at the reservoir for the rest of the summer due to drought conditions.

For the remainder of the summer season, the launch ramps at the reservoir are projected to remain in use as follows: Blue Oaks operational until the first of June; Moccasin Point operational until the first of July; Fleming Meadows operational with five lanes of launching through mid-July, and then operational after that with two lanes of launching. Additionally, the annual Fourth of July firework show has been cancelled due to safety hazards.

Updates to these projections are posted online at www.donpedrolake.com.
