Turlock Express' Soccer Pals and special guest Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth take a group photo after their certificate ceremony Monday.  The program's six-week session is set up to pair the Express players and volunteers with children who have special needs for special classes and training in soccer.

"I feel the program opens up my son Damian to being social.  It's really helped him a lot," said parent Andrea Moreno, who says she will sign her son up for another session.

The program was implemented to give children an opportunity to not only learn the game of soccer but various skills such as team work, patience and discipline. The players also benefit from working with the children.

"I'm glad this program was put in place because we get to communicate and talk with these kids who want to be involved. They are helping us out and give us a better insight on focusing on what the best things are," said Turlock Express player Arturo Pulido.

Each session is $30 for six weeks. Children receive a T-shirt and have an awards ceremony.  The next session will start April 6 and takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Monday at Turlock Indoor Soccer facility.  For more information, please contact Dareny Barajas (209) 628-5460 or via email turlockexpresssc@gmail.com
