Carl Hillberg was honored by the Rotary Club of Turlock on Tuesday in celebration of his 100th birthday and 70 years of service as a Rotarian. Hillberg served as president of the club in 1961-62. In honor of Hillberg, the club, as well as other community members, donated more than $6,000 for the creation of the Carl Hillberg Legacy Fund. Hillberg will choose which nonprofit or organization will receive the funds. Hillberg ran a successful accounting firm in Turlock and served as the City Treasurer for Turlock for 32 years under five different mayors.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
