Robert Caton has been a professional truck driver for more than 30 years, but more impressive than that is his track record. Since beginning work for trucking company Ruan in August 1988, Caton has accumulated more than 2 million miles and been in zero accidents resulting in his nomination as the company's National Driver of the Year.

"I've been doing this so long to me it's just work," laughed Caton.

Ruan is an 83-year-old dedicated contract carriage and supply chain solutions company headquartered in Iowa. With more than 5,200 drivers nationwide, Caton is one of just 16 regional winners recognized for their length of service, safety, driving record and exceptional customer service.

"Ruan’s drivers are our most valuable assets," said Chairman John Ruan III. "These Region Winners are outstanding because they consistently exceed our safety and service standards to meet the needs of our customers. This recognition is our way of honoring their dedication and ongoing commitment to Ruan."

Caton's current route is local as he serves dairies in the Modesto, Turlock and Hilmar areas where he picks up milk from the dairymen. Caton's long-term commitment to Ruan is a testament to his passion for his job.

"I love my job. I wouldn't still be doing this if I didn't," explained Caton. "It's an honor to be picked and it feels good that they are recognizing the work I do."

Caton and 15 other Region Winners will travel to Des Moines, Iowa on July 14 for a ceremony and festivities where one driver will be selected by Ruan's executive committee as Driver of the Year.
