Some walked, others were carried and one was pushed in his very own canine stroller to the Scoop’it & Loop’it Ice Cream Social Doggy Walk at Crane Park on Thursday.

Dozens of Turlock residents strolled through the park with their four-legged friends and got a tasty ice cream treat from Cold Stone Creamery provided by Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital. The community dog walk started as a vision from local veterinarian Rob Santos after driving home from work.

“I saw a couple walking their dogs and eating ice cream and I thought it was an enjoyable event,” said Santos. “I wanted to recreate it in a park and give free ice cream and promote walking around the park because walking is healthy for the dogs and people too.”

Turlock resident Cindy Arrigotti and her companion "Reya" enjoyed some quality time at the community dog walk.

“It’s very nice to see all the different sized dogs getting along with each other,” said Arrigotti. “I will definitely come to this event again.”
