A man sleeping behind a Turlock business was killed when a delivery truck backed over him, the Turlock Police Department reported.
The identity of the deceased male is not being released until he can be positively identified and next of kin notified.
The incident was reported to the police department at 10:37 a.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of Geer Road.
It’s believed the man was asleep behind a business and was run over by the tires of a delivery vehicle that was in the process of backing into the loading dock of the business, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.
Members of the Turlock Fire Department performed life saving measures on scene and the man was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital.
“Despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased,” Parmley said.
The uninjured driver of the delivery vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The Turlock Police Department does not suspect that speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision.
