Adeline Frances Lemos died peacefully in her home on March 19, 2015. Adeline was born November 6, 1929, in Watsonville, California, the daughter of the late Mariano and Adelaida Santos.

Adeline graduated from Santa Cruz High School and in 1947 married the love of her life John Souza Lemos. They moved to the Central Valley from Santa Cruz where she spent the last 55 years in the Turlock area.

Adeline was a loving Mother, Grandmother “Ava”, and Great-grandmother “Bisavá” and will be missed dearly. Her family was the most important thing to her. She enjoyed her years as a Librarian Assistant at Turlock Junior High where she retired after 15 years. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and was known for her pancakes.

Adeline was fortunate to have been able to continue to reside in her home, per her wishes, with the excellent care of dependable, professional and dedicated caregivers. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness. A special thank you to Covenant Care Hospice for their exceptional services and support to her and the family.

Adeline is survived by her children, Linda (Michael) Mann, Nancy Lemos, John (Rosa) Lemos, and Frank (Annette) Lemos all of Turlock; 7 Grandchildren, Mike Mann, Rachel (Chris) Sutherland, Jonathan Mann (Daphne Cooper), Andrew (Kate) Mann, Nathan (Nicole) Lemos, Alexandra Lemos (Brandon VanBeber) and Trevor Lemos; 4 Great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Juliana and Evan John Sutherland, and Hunter Lemos; and her brother, Gil Santos of Capitola, CA. Adeline is preceded in death by her husband, John Souza Lemos, baby John, 3 brothers (Joe, Al, and John), and her sister (Lorraine).

There will be a Rosary on March 30, 2015, at 6:30 pm and a Celebration of Life on March 31, 2015, at 1:00 pm both at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Road, Turlock. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or the charity of the donor’s choosing.
