Annie was born in 1928 as the youngest of 8 children in Winters, Texas to the late Charles and Annie Hendricks. The family moved to California in 1947, settled in Ceres, and began attending First Baptist Church in Modesto. She attended Ceres High School. She married Edward Madsen in 1949. Raised 3 children- Janna, Gary and Jim. Worked in management with Ed for Sprouse Ritz department store and co-owned Northway Variety Store in downtown Hughson. Upon retirement, she and Ed enjoyed working together as kiwi farmers, traveling to farmer’s markets each week. Anita’s hobbies included reading her Bible, gardening, traveling and spoiling her grand and great grandchildren. She loved Jesus and others with her whole heart and remains a great example of unconditional love to us all.

Annie (Anita, Hun, Mom, Skeet, Neet, Nita, Grandma, Uma) is preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Annie Hendricks; husband of 62 years, Edward Madsen of Hughson; siblings: Connie (Sis) Lombardo of Santa Cruz, Charles (Doc) Hendricks of Turlock, Lawton (Bud) Hendricks of Modesto, Murray (Murt) Hendricks of Sacramento, Avanell (Agate) Jackson of Patterson, Jane (Janie) Parker of Salida, Catherine Hendricks of Texas. She is survived by her 3 children: Janna Madsen-Sawicki of Alabama, Gary Madsen of La Grange and Jim Madsen (Dawn) of Turlock; 6 grandchildren: Gary Madsen Jr. (Rachelle), Ryan Sawicki (Mellissa), Alicia Madsen (Kelly), Colton Sawicki, Alyssa Madsen and Katelyn Madsen; 6 great grandchildren: Luke Madsen, Lillian Madsen, Stratton Sawicki, Braeden Sawicki, Ryder Sawicki and baby Madsen in the oven (Alicia).

The memorial will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 12th at CrossPoint Community Church (12th & M, Modesto). A viewing will be held prior to the memorial service from 9:30-11:00a.m. Burial will follow the memorial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
