Bruce lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014. He was born and raised in Turlock and attended Turlock schools and graduated from Turlock High School in 1965.  An Army Veteran from 1966-1968, he served in Vietnam from 1967-1968.  Bruce worked for International Paper/Evergreen for 42 years.

Always the thrill-seeker, Bruce loved motorcycling, both on and off-road.  His adventures also included hang gliding, ultra-light flying, cave exploring, and hiking anywhere in the mountains.  At age 50, Bruce and his son Scott hiked Half Dome.

Some of his best days were spent camping at New Brighton Beach, going to the family cabin at Twain Harte, eating breakfast at Latif’s with his kids and grandkids, and motorcycle rides with great friends Chris & David Kiriakou, and Bob Perkins in the Sierra Nevada mountains.  He valued his daily phone calls with friend Fred Foster, and he had a love of all history, especially the California Gold Rush and Yosemite Valley.

Bruce was proud of his Swedish heritage.  His grandparents’ home, the Lundell farm, was where Osborn School  and part of Turlock Memorial Park now stand.

Bruce is survived by wife Jean; son Scott Wejmar (Monica); daughter Kim Torres (Steve); sisters Kay Allen and Phyllis Johnson (Harry); grandchildren Chad Caseri, Haylee Torres, Lars, William and Michael Wejmar, and Alyssa Frazier (Matt); mother-in-law and father-in-law Vernon and Florene Lee, brother-in-law Roger Smith (Lea Anne); and special cousins who are like siblings Dean Carlson and Kris Jones (Ted); and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to Turlock Fire Fighters Random Acts of Kindness, PO Box 3775, Turlock, CA  95380.
