Early in life Earl accepted Jesus Christ as his loving, personal savior, as a member of the Christian Endeavor Society. Earl met Hazel in San Bernardino where they both taught elementary school. This service included 14 years in developing and pastoring the church at the Calexico Mission School, where his talents in administration, pastoring and the ability to work with the young people was put to good use.  He was also handy with carpentry and mechanics.
They served in Central and South America for a total of 17 years: in Peru, Bolivia, and Puerto Rico. While in Bolivia they adopted their two children, John and Martha. His last job was in Puerto Rico. They retired and moved back to the USA. They spent 18 retirement years in Oakhurst, Calif. They then sold their home and moved in with their daughter and son-in-law.
