Earl G. Meyer, 93, born in Beaumont, passed to his rest peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Jan. 21.
Early in life Earl accepted Jesus Christ as his loving, personal savior, as a member of the Christian Endeavor Society. Earl met Hazel in San Bernardino where they both taught elementary school. Here is where he married Hazel Lay. This union began on Aug. 15, 1940, and it was filled with 68 years of joy and adventures.
Earl earned his BA degree at PUC in 1957, and his master’s degree at Potomac University in 1959. He became an ordained minister and educational administrator. This service included 14 years in developing and pastoring the church at the Calexico Mission School, where his talents in administration, pastoring and the ability to work with the young people was put to good use.  He was also handy with carpentry and mechanics.
They served in Central and South America for a total of 17 years: in Peru, Bolivia, and Puerto Rico. While in Bolivia they adopted their two children, John and Martha. His last job was in Puerto Rico. They retired and moved back to the USA. They spent 18 retirement years in Oakhurst, Calif. They then sold their home and moved in with their daughter and son-in-law.
Earl is survived by his daughter, Martha; and grandson, Jonathan.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the Ceres Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1633 N. Central Ave., Ceres.
