Glenda Barreto, 71, of Patterson, passed away on Saturday at her home in her much-loved art studio. She was born in Sacramento to Glenn and Anne Fry in 1940. She was raised in Dixon, and moved to Patterson around 1973, where she had a 30-year career as a teacher. Most of those years were spent at Grayson Elementary. She ended her career as an art teacher at Creekside Middle School. Glenda was one of the founders of the Del Puerto Art Group and enjoyed many hours painting with friends in her studio. Her passion was making art available through art exhibits in the community. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, weaving, reading and gardening. She was comforted during her illness by her cats, Kali and Weasley.

Glenda is survived by her mother, Anne Fry of Davis; children, Tony (Lorena) Barreto of McAllen, Texas and Maria Barreto of Chico, Calif.; sister, Donna of Dixon; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Fry.

Arrangements were entrusted to Allen Mortuary. On Glenda’s request, there are no services planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave. Ste. 8, Modesto, CA 95350.
