Ingebjrg (Ingie) Odny Klevmyr
c24466 1

Ingie was born Ingebjørg Odny Olsen, in Kristiansund, Norway.  She lived in Norway until emigrating to the United States in 1954 at the age of 31.   She and her husband, Nils Klevmyr, were married in June of 1944, during World War II in occupied Norway.  There first son, Rolf, was born shortly after the war in November of 1946.

When Ingie and Nils moved to the United States, they moved directly to Turlock because their sponsor, Knut Knutsen also lived in Turlock.  Soon after Ingie came to the U.S. their second son, Roy, was born.

Ingie started Ingie’s Hair Fashions in 1960 and it was soon the largest beauty shop in Turlock.  In 1974, Ingie started Ingie’s Travel after a year long study of Travel agency operations in San Francisco. After work, Ingie drove to San Francisco twice a week for her schooling. Ingie’s Travel operated in Turlock until 2009.

Ingie (and her husband) loved their adopted country and were proud that they both learned English immediately and received their citizenship on the first day that they were able after 5 years of residency.  Both Ingie and her husband, Nils made frequent trips home to Norway to visit family, but were always dedicated and proud Americans.

Ingie is survived by her two sons, Rolf (Rita) Klevmyr and Roy (Cindy) Klevmyr.  Four grandchildren Erik (Hayley) Klevmyr, Kari (Ryan) Fortin, Kaisa (Ryan) Miller and Katrina (Kevin) Mayer and 8 great grandchildren.

Celebration of life for Ingie will be held on May 9, 2015 at 11:00am at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 640 N. Minaret Ave., Turlock CA. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
