James Edward O’Riley was born to Luther and Jeanette O’Riley in Hale Center, Texas. The oldest of six children, he and his family came to California when he was 12 years old.
He worked for Norris Industries, PG&E, and Woody Poultry. The family also had a ranch in Ballico and on Morgan Rd.
He was a mechanic, machinist, refrigeration technician, and worked in construction.
He met mom, Martha Craig, and they were married October 15, 1939. They celebrated 68 years of marriage.
Dad built his home in Turlock in 1950 and resided there until his death. He and Mom traveled to Utah, Arizona, Oregon, and all the way up and down the California coast and mountains.
Grandpa and Grandma camped with children and grandchildren many times. They also surf fishing and went deep sea fishing.
He devoted his life to his family and raised 3 sons and 1 granddaughter.
He is survived by Gene O’Riley, Gary O’Riley, grandchildren: Kimberly Gomez, Katrine Grimaldo, Kerry Gaines, Michael O’Riley, Katie Austin, Daniel O’Riley, Bernadette May, Misty Cooley, Brandy Clemons, and great grandchildren: Macayla, Megan, and Hannah O’Riley, Zachary Gaines, Tucker Roland, Gage Clemons, Ian Davis, Lucas May Brandon May, Alyssa Cooley, Ahyah Cooley, Zach Larsen, Amber Grimaldo and her brother Spencer.
