Lillian S. Freitas, 97, of Turlock, passed away on July 26. She was a homemaker for 70 years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock. She enjoyed gardening, crotchet, embroidery and cooking. She gave many of her embroidery works to family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Arnold S. (Elizabeth) Mello of Delhi and Naldiro “John” (Connie) Mello of Atwater; daughters, Marry Mello of Delhi and Lillian Sharp of Delhi; brother, John Saude of Los Banos; sister, Rita Saude of Angra do Heroismo, Terceira, Azores; 19 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John S. Mello, who died in 1964; her second husband, Frank T. Freitas, who died in 1988; brothers, Joe, Manuel, Tony, Fernando and Frank Saude; and granddaughters, Kim and Julie Sharp.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
