Linda Halsey, 59, of Turlock, passed away in Modesto on May 6 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Ypsilanti, MI to Chris and Catherine Smith in 1950. Linda moved to California in 1980. She met Edward Halsey in 1981, and they married in 1984. They moved to Turlock in 1986. She owned and operated Reaching High Co-op, a learning center for children. Linda enjoyed Monterey Bay, kayaking, road trips, children, animals and gardening. She will be known for helping the needy, the elderly, single mothers, young couples and rescuing animals of all types.
Linda is survived by her husband, Edward Halsey; children, Jennifer Hannula of Oakdale and Charles Hannula of Gumbranch, Ga.; step-children, Tobin Halsey of Roseville and Wendy Voss of Grass Valley; siblings, Elizabeth Goff, Patricia Dixon and Chris Smith, Jr.; and grandchildren, Davon, T.C., Cammie, Eric, Chloe and Siena.
Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 at Allen Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Linda’s honor to Hospice of Emanuel, P.O. Box 819005, Turlock, CA 95381.
