Lucille Marian (Whited) MacDougall unexpectedly passed away on March 1, 2011, at Emanuel Medical Center at the age of 91. Lucy, as most people knew her, was born in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1919, and was the fourth born in a family of six children.  She lived in the Minneapolis area until she moved to California in 1948 with her husband Berne and two daughters, Shari and Ginger.
In 1950 they purchased a home in San Mateo, where son Charlie was born.  She lived in the same house for 57 years until she moved to Samaritan Village in Hughson, where she resided the past four years.
A gifted vocalist, she always sang in church choirs, in duets, trios and small groups, and as a contralto soloist at church and in community musical events.  She started singing with her sisters at a young age and continued to do so into her 60s. Lucy served the Lord at Oliver Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, Peninsula Covenant Church in Redwood City and First Presbyterian Church in San Mateo.
Being a homemaker brought her much enjoyment.  Lucy had a lot of friends and was usually part of a women’s group at church.  She was a very giving person and was often involved in taking friends to the doctor, church, airport, etc.  Lucy and Berne enjoyed traveling by cruise ship, car and plane for many years until Berne died in l991.
She is survived by Shari (Dick) Mills of Ben Lomond, Ginger Nelson of Turlock and Charlie (Margie) MacDougall of Montara; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Her husband, parents and five siblings preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 2 at the Samaritan Village Chapel in Hughson.  Burial will be at Skylawn Cemetery in San Mateo.
