Olga Rosalba Calderon
Sep 29, 1934 - July 16, 2022

Olga Rosalba Calderon took her place in Heaven on July 16, 2022.

She was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico on September 29, 1934, to Maria de Jesus Peralta de Rodriguez and Aurelio Rodriguez Diaz. She was the middle sibling of Ana Hernandez and Oscar Rodriguez.

She studied at the Colegio de Sinaloa. In 1961 she left Mexico to help her sister, Ana Hernandez, with her growing family in San Jose, CA. Olga made many friends in her English classes while in San Jose, and often they went dancing. Always stylish and elegant, Olga caught the eye of Joseph Louis Calderon. Joe appreciated Olga’s beauty, intelligence, and class, and together they enjoyed drives to the coast and the mountains of CA, attending the San Jose Speedway races, and dancing their way to marriage in 1965.

Their first home was on Midpine Ave. in San Jose CA where they had three children: Joseph, 1967, Clarissa, 1968, and Edward, 1971.

Olga was a wonderful storyteller and everyone enjoyed listening to her stories about her life experiences.

While Joe worked as a  welder and trouble shooter for Westinghouse, Olga ran the household and worked part time at Tri Valley Cannery.

In 1975, the Calderon family moved to Hughson, CA, to a home on Pioneer Rd. Joe took up farming their own grapes and alfalfa, and Olga took a job at Keyes Grammar School as an instructional aide and translator.

Olga also worked at Tri Valley Cannery and made many friends there.

Olga’s most important job was being a mother. Breakfast and dinner were always on the table and the laundry and house were taken care of. Olga also was a fabulous cook and beautiful all the while.

Olga did everything with patience, grace, style, and most of all, lots of love.

Olga retired upon the arrival of her beloved grandchildren and she put all her heart into being a grandmother, watching the children daily starting with Ashley and Brice, and continuing with Michael and Dominic. Olga was as dedicated a grandmother as she was a mother; caring for and serving her family in love. In all of these years, Olga continued to enjoy dances with Joe, which kept them both happy and healthy.

Olga and her older sister, Ana, were incredibly close and supported one another throughout her lifetime. Family was always everything and to Olga’s family, she was the rock, the faith, and the heart. She was everything a mother, wife, and grandmother could be.

She will be greatly missed by all, especially her sister Ana Hernandez, her brother Oscar Rodriguez, her husband Joseph Calderon, her three children Joseph Calderon, Clarissa Long (Dexter Long) Edward Calderon as well as her four grandchildren, Ashley Long, Brice Long, Michael Long and Dominic Long.
