The third Central California Conference center meet concluded on Wednesday for Turlock and Pitman High cross country.

Unfortunately, neither the Bulldogs nor Pride were able to finish atop after a highly competitive race from Applegate Park in Merced.

The Bulldog girls finished with the best result of both schools with a second place result after scoring 38 points. Merced finished in first.

On the boys’ side, Turlock took third with a score of 90, while only Atwater and Buhach Colony were ahead.

“Girls took second in a nailbiter against Merced,” said Turlock head coach JoAnn Davison. “We had seven runners in before they did, but their 1-2-3 finish proved unbeatable. I could not have asked more from these ladies. They are champions in my eyes.”

Both the Pitman boys’ and girls’ varsity teams finished in fifth place, respectively.

“Also, both freshman teams placed second and our JV boys’ team won the CCC. Our goals for this meet were met; we are looking forward to sub section,” said Pitman head coach Sara Smith.

Turlock's Macie Ericksen, Maria Varela and Ade Fredeen earned first team all league selections.

“That looks pretty good as we head into sub sections,” said Davison. “Merced is in Division 3, so that puts us as the No. 1 CCC school in our division.”

Sub-Sections for Pitman will take place at Frogtown on Monday.

Turlock will move on to the Sub-Sections which will take place at Angels Camp Saturday.
