The 38th annual Central California Lions All-Star Football Game will once again have representation from the Turlock area. The event will be held June 18 at the University of Pacific’s Stagg Memorial Stadium in Stockton.

Before then, the all-stars will be honored Saturday at the Petersen Events Center in Modesto with former NFL tight end Brian Peets, a former Lions All-Star participant, to speak at the banquet.

After compiling an 8-3 overall record and going 0-10 in the previous season, the Turlock High Bulldogs will have two players — running back/defensive back Ricky Fuentes and tight end/linebacker Connor Pearson — compete in the annual game, along with coach James Peterson as the South All-Stars head coach.

Peterson participated in the all-star game in 1999, when his team lost 9-7 to the North.

“It feels great to part of this game again,” Peterson said in a press release. “I hope the kids come out with a good attitude and that we can make a good showing.”
