Turlock High earned its first league win of the season on Monday, defeating Golden Valley High 3-0.
“They’re always at the top of our league,” Turlock’s head coach Doug Sperry said of the Cougars. “It was a big win for us. It was a chance to get back on track.”
The Bulldogs (1-0-1) attacked Golden Valley from the beginning of the match, using their midfielders to control the ball and tempo. Desmond Madrigal found the new midway through the first half to put Turlock up 1-0 and the two teams entered halftime with the same score.
Turlock continued to execute its game plan in the second half as constant and consistent passing led to goals from Christian Olide and Dylan Castro.
“It was a good overall team effort,” Sperry said.
