The anti-drunk driving crackdown leading up to the Labor Day holiday resulted in the arrests of 172 individuals.

The Avoid the 12 campaign ran from 12:01 a.m. Aug. 20 through midnight Monday.

Last year during the same time period there were 199 arrests for driving under the influence.

The arrests were made throughout Stanislaus County. The campaign used checkpoints and saturation patrols to catch the drunk drivers.

The operation was paid for by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
