Friend on social media turns into robbery in real life
Crime-Scene-Tape

A friendship struck up on Facebook didn’t turn out all that well for a Turlock man who found himself the victim of an armed robbery.

The robbery victim told investigators he had met a woman on Facebook and that on Saturday she sent him a text asking if he could come help her because she was having trouble with her car.

The man drove out to the 1100 block of Alpha Road around 1 a.m. Sunday, but instead of finding his female friend, he found three masked men.

The three males assaulted the victim and stole his wallet and other personal belongings, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the attack, but did not require medical treatment.

The suspects were seen driving away in a gray two-door Acura.

At this point in the investigation it’s unclear if the woman the victim met on Facebook was real or not.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department at 668-5550.
