The suspect wanted for a fatal stabbing in Waterford surrendered to authorities Thursday.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department had been searching for 27-year-old Johnny Carrizales since Sunday in connection with a homicide.

Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said Carrizales contacted the sheriff’s department Thursday and turned himself in around noon.

Carrizales was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on a homicide charge for the death of 23-year-old James Mandall.

Mandall was found with multiple stab wounds Sunday night at the Waterford Garden Apartments at 12313 Dorsey Street. He was rushed to Oak Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The sheriff’s department said Mandall’s death was from a fight that escalated to the stabbing.
