A man who jumped over a fence into a secured area of the Turlock Public Safety Facility was apprehended by several off-duty officers after making his way into the building.

There were no injuries reported from the incident and the man was not armed, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The suspect was identified as Xavier Muzquiz, 37. He was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest.

The incident began around 8 p.m. Monday when Muzquiz gained access to the secured parking lot at the facility by jumping over a gated area of the fence.

An officer was arriving for his shift at the time and approached Muzquiz to see what he was doing. The officer ordered Muzquiz to leave the property, but Muzquiz refused to listen, Lewis said.

A custodian was in the parking lot at the same time and the officer told him to go inside and get help, Lewis said. When the custodian opened the door, Muzquiz ran into the building.

Muzquiz only made it a short way into the facility before he was apprehended by other officers who were arriving for their shifts.
